This is my first piece that received recognition. It's an oil pastel I did in first grade. This and Riley Moran's got picked to be showcased in a little show in elementary school, and I remember thinking, "mine sucks, Riley's actually looks like a real flower, mine's dumb." And what I've come to realize some thirty odd years later is that, this is who I am - which makes sense because I've always been obsessed with modern/abstract art - Picasso and Van Gogh, and I love bright multi-colors for clothing and accessories. It's just taken me this long to embrace and accept the fact that this is me - I am who I am - and that hasn't changed since I was a little kid in gradeschool (as you can tell from my current pieces). It is what it is. We are who we are.
